Who’s Jesus?
Jesus was a simple man, a carpenter from a small place near Jerusalem that went by the name of Nazareth. People used to say that nothing good ever came out of that town. But Jesus was the exception to that; he was so much more than a carpenter. Sure, he wasn’t a scholar, but he taught the most gobsmacking and mind blowing things of the day. Where people said hate, he said love. Where they said revenge, Jesus said forgive. He wasn’t a meteorologist and couldn’t predict the weather, but he told a stormy wind and waves to be calm and they were. Jesus wasn’t a fisherman or a baker, but managed to feed 5000 people with just a few fish and some bread. And He wasn’t a doctor, but he healed countless people in a time where even the slightest illness could be fatal. You see, Jesus was the son of God and did some pretty amazing things during his life. Yet, his life pales in comparison to the death he died. In the scheme of things, Jesus came to be beaten and bashed, ridiculed and humiliated, and nailed to a cross to die. The million dollar question is: Why? Why would anyone do that? Jesus went to die on the cross, not because he wanted to, but because of the greatest and deepest love he has for us. The thing is, it doesnt end there, Jesus was raised from the dead three days after he died. The story of Jesus is almost crazy. Nearly unbelievable. But, that is exactly what makes it so amazing.
What is so significant about Jesus? The Bible says that we are sinful by nature and deserving of God’s wrath. The Bible also says that God loves us and offered up His only son Jesus as the substitute for our sins. Jesus death offers us new life, assurance of eternal life with God in heaven and a transformed and overcoming life here on earth. The freedom that Jesus gives comes free of charge, that's grace, all you have to do is to accept this gift - to acknowledge your sinfulness before God in prayer and to accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. The Bible says that Jesus is the only way to God and to Heaven. So now you have a choice. Now you need to decide whether or not you believe this. Now you need to make the most important decision you will ever make. Will you accept Jesus as your Saviour?
